Personally, I'm always reading something good! In fact, I can't think of too many times where I have been reading something so not good that I decided to abandon the book and go in search of something else. Each summer, I become a veritable reading machine, a monster with a voracious appetite for mystery, fantasy, and romance. I thrive on traveling to time periods and lands other than my own, so I read lots of historical fiction. I am rather persnickety about the historical fiction that I read, so I prefer for the historical elements to be grounded in accurate research. This summer, I tackled World Without End, the sequel to Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. While the pages number close to 1,000, Follett's medieval saga about the lives of the designers, carpenters, masons, and townspeople of the fictitious Kingsbridge, England, is so captivating that the pages are far less daunting than you might imagine.
     Currently, I am embroiled in the murder of a genius, a maestro found poisoned in his dressing room during an intermission of the opera, La Traviata. Murder at La Fenice is Donna Leon's first novel in her police commisario, Guido Brunetti series. I have had the good fortune to travel to Venice, the setting of this mystery, and am enjoying the gondola rides, the winding streets and alleys that snake along the canal, and the mention of historical sites that I have seen.
    If you want to see what else I read this summer, please feel free to become my friend on goodreads.com!

<div style="-moz-border-radius: 10px;
